Principal’s Message

Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Smaraka Government College, Thalassery (KBSGCT), established in 2014 under the Kerala Government’s “one college per constituency” initiative, received significant funding from the Asset Development Fund of the late MLA Sri Kodiyeri Balakrishnan. In recognition of his significant contributions in every step of the formation of the college, Government College, Thalassery was renamed Kodiyeri Balakrishnan Smaraka Govt. College Thalassery in 2023.

The college enjoys a tranquil setting in Olavilam, near the Mayyazhi River. With public support the College secured approximately six acres of land on Thuluvar Hills near Kaviyur, the land of the famous Uracheri Gurukkals.

KBSGCT offers undergraduate programs in BA History, B.Com (Computer Applications), and BCA, and additionally , a postgraduate program in M.Sc Computer Science specializing in Artificial Intelligence. This makes KBSGCT the only Government Arts and Science college in Kerala to offer a postgraduate degree in Computer Science.

Since its inception, the college has been on a track of rapid development. Just in the last one year we have finished the construction of a new academic block, a canteen, and a ladies’ hostel and they would be inaugurated shortly.

KBSGCT is dedicated to providing quality education to students from all socio-economic backgrounds. Our students have achieved academic and extracurricular success, establishing the college as a prominent institution in the district.

To orient our students to social service and inculcate the spirit of voluntary work we have constituted an NSS unit.
The college’s NSS unit has been very active and enthusiastic in organizing various social services for the needy. As the fruit of the initiative of the NSS, we have constructed two houses for underprivileged families of the locality.

In addition to academics and social service, KBSGCT actively encourages student participation in sports, with students winning prizes at university and state-level competitions.

To ensure the holistic development of our students we have also constituted various clubs that conduct activities and events on a regular basis.

KBSGCT envisions a transformative education that fosters intellectual growth, ethical values, and social responsibility, preparing students for the challenges of a rapidly evolving global landscape. Our mission is to deliver high-quality education and empower young minds.
